Hello! My name is Megan, an 18-year-old ocean activist living in Miami, Florida. Going to a school across the street from an amazing view of the ocean, I have found myself ever-so enthralled in its seemingly infinite beauty. I've also realized the desperate state the ocean is in from society's poor choices--things like over-fishing, illegal whaling, and, you guessed it, pollution.

Most people these days are concerned with "going green" and are determined to make their lives more eco-friendly. What many fail to realize is that while being green is admirable, something far larger is at stake from mankind's poor choices than the soil on which we walk, and that is the ocean. Perhaps we should all change our way of thinking and try on an outfit of a different color--blue.

After all; if the oceans die, we die.

Evolution of my delicious lunch! :) I love being vegan.

I just got my Environmental Defense Fund bumper sticker in the mail!
I voted in their Earth Day bumper sticker challenge and for doing so, I was sent the winning slogan:

They get more profits, you get more cancer.

Wondering what this means? According to EDF:
America’s coal-fired power plants produce billions in profits every year for corporate polluters, but release hundreds of thousands of tons of mercury, arsenic, acid gases and other toxic air pollution.
1 out of every 10 American women of childbearing age have potentially dangerous levels of mercury in their blood stream that could cause brain damage in their babies.
For every $1 invested in pollution control technologies, $30 in broader economic benefits are generated in the form of technological innovation, energy efficiency, more productive and healthy workers, and avoided illnesses and hospitalizations.
Support EDF in their fight to hold corporate polluters accountable.

Forks Over Knives - Official Trailer

“What every human being should do is eat a vegetarian diet based on whole foods. Period. That’s it. Animal protein is bad for you. Dairy is bad for you. Forget the ads: Milk and eggs are bad for you.” -Roger Ebert

Going on a 100% raw vegan diet for the next week.

I just want to see if I have what it takes. :)

Wish me luck!
